Joining Method Mechanical

Image provided by American Ductile Iron Pipe

Used for ductile iron pipe, the mechanical joining method consists of a number of components.  One end of the pipe is formed with a bell shape to allow the opposite end of another pipe to fit inside. Bolted ring flanges compress a gasket between the bell and pipe as bolts draw the flanges tight, thus sealing the joint and fastening the pipe together.
