Joining Method Flanged

Flanging may be used for threaded or plain-end pipe. After a flange component is installed on the pipe and/or fitting, a gasket is placed between the two flange components and bolted together for a leak free joint.  It is important to select the proper gasket material based on the fluid application.  Flanged joints are primarily used where piping components cannot be serviced in-line and where rapid field assembly and frequent disassembly are desired. Flanged systems normally are available for pressures of 125, 150, 200, 300 psi.  Flanged systems are used almost entirely above ground and should be checked periodically for leaks.  Improper installation of flanged joints can lead to costly repair problems. Manufacturer’s instructions must be followed completely to ensure joint integrity.
