Fitting Reducer

Reducing fittings are used to provide direct in-line reduction from larger piping sizes to smaller sizes. Reducers are provided with in either eccentric or concentric styles.  Eccentric reducers are typically used to either maintain the bottom of pipe elevation to enable uniform hanger height and/or to allow steam condensate to flow unimpeded; or to maintain the top of pipe elevation to inhibit air bubble collection at the fitting.  Concentric reducers are much more common. They allow continuity of the piping centerline and typically have less pressure drop across them.
